Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana head coach Carlos Alberto Parreira was optimistic after Friday's 1-1 draw against Mexico in the opening game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He believes that the team could have won the game but lost concentration in the final 15 minutes of the game.
Parreira told the Siya crew after the game that the players lost a bit of concentration when it mattered most. "We played very well through out the game. We defended very well in the first-half and then we scored the all important goal but things changed as we conceded that goal," said the coach.
He went on, "We lost concentration towards the end. We failed to defend that set piece and it cost us the three points. The result is not very bad as we managed to get a point out of the game, that is the most important thing."
The Brazilian World Cup winning coach thanked the players for a good game. "Overall we played very well and we can improve from this performance in the next game and see what we can do," Parreira concluded.
