Arjen Robben joined the Netherlands squad in South Africa on Saturday after recovering from a hamstring injury but he will not play the World Cup opener for his team on Monday.
Bert van Marwijk, coach of the Netherlands team, reiterated that he did not want to take risks with the classy Bayern Munich winger and would not be fielding him on Monday against Denmark.
The coach did not give an exact time when Robben would play, with the other Dutch group games on June 19 against Japan and June 24 against Cameroon.
"We're going to take it easy with him," Van Marwijk said. "He has just trained once and played for forty minutes in the last three weeks."
The 26-year-old Robben underwent five days of intensive treatment with his physiotherapist, Dick van Toorn, after limping out of a tune-up match against Hungary on Saturday which left his World Cup participation in serious doubt.
He had final tests on Friday and left that day for South Africa.
