Germany forward Cacau has been ruled out of Sunday's second-round match against England at the World Cup, and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger and defender Jerome Boateng face late fitness tests.
Cacau pulled an abdominal muscle during the team's final training at its base outside Pretoria.
The German squad arrived Saturday in Bloemfontein and practiced at a local university ground. FIFA did not allow practice at the venue because it is preserving the pitch at Free State Stadium for the match.
Schweinsteiger and Boateng had a reduced training session and will undergo tests shortly before kickoff, Germany goalkeeping coach Andreas Koepke said. Schweinsteiger has a right thigh injury and Boateng a calf injury.
Toni Kroos is a possible replacement for Schweinsteiger and Marcell Jansen for Boateng.
