Steven Gerrard said on Tuesday that he will not quit international football following England's disappointing campaign at the South Africa World Cup.
Gerrard, 30, said he expects Fabio Capello to make wholesale changes to the squad ahead of the start of qualification for the European Championships in 2012.
But the Liverpool captain insisted he would continue to fight for his place, despite the 4-1 thumping by Germany.
He said: "There is no way I want the disappointment of the Germany game to be my last for England. It was such a low and I am determined to do as much as I can to make amends for what happened."
Jamie Carragher, Gerrard's Liverpool teammate who came out of international retirement to represent England in South Africa, has announced that he will be withdrawing from the international scene once again.
