Schalke 04 stunned defending champions Bayern at DFB Pokal (German Cup) thanks to an early winner by Spanish veteran striker Raul on Wednesday.

Bayern were unable to overcome Schalkes well positioned defence, only to see Raul nod home a prolonged corner from right wing to shock the Bavarians in front of home crowd at the 15th minute.

"It is a big disappointment but that's soccer. Schalke defended, scored a goal through a counter, and we were unlucky at the finish. We played a great second half but we didn't had the luck on our side," Bayern head coach Louis van Gaal said after the loss.

Schalke inflicted Bayern the first home loss since 20 years at semifinals to face second division team Duisburg at the German Cup final on May 21 at Berlin Olympia stadium. Bayern pressed frantically throughout the second half but all their efforts remained inaccurate and overhasty.

"We knew that we would have a chance to win. After the lead at the first half, we had another good opportunities to extend the lead but then we defended deep the whole second half," Schalke manager Felix Magath said after the match.

Already on Tuesday, second division team Duisburg defeated Cottbus at the other semifinal to seal their final ticket.
