Two-time All Star point guard Deron Williams will have surgery on his right wrist, which will force him to miss the final week of the NBA season.
The New Jersey Nets star player was to have bone fragments and scar tissue removed from his wrist in a procedure on Friday after an MRI scan on Wednesday showed the injury had become worse than indicated.
Williams strained his right wrist in January, before moving to New York from the Utah Jazz on February 23 in a multi-player deal, said the Nets coach Avery Johnson.
The guard averaged 15 points and 12.8 assists in 12 games with the Nets.
The Nets will also miss Kris Humphries for the last four games after the power forward suffered right ankle and heel injuries.
