Bundesliga team Schalke eliminated defending champion Inter Milan from UEFA Champions League after a 2-1 win (7-3 on aggregate) thanks to veteran striker Raul who scored and assisted on Wednesday.
It is the first time in Schalke's club history that they reached Champions League semifinals.
After the terrific 5-2 first leg win at San Siro, Schalke had no problems to grab their semifinal berth against Manchester United.
Just before the break Spaniard striker Raul shocked the guests when he utilized a through ball by team mate Jose Manuel Jurado to overcome Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar at the 44th minute.
Four minutes after the interval, Inter Milan showed a vital sign when midfielder Thiago Motto netted the ball after a corner. Schalke remained unfazed to astonish Inter with a perfect through ball by Raul who assisted defender Benedikt Hoewedes who hammered the assist into the bottom right of the goal to mark the final score nine minutes before final whistle.
Schalke remains undefeated in nine Champions League matches.
