Jiaozuo to host taichi enthusiasts

Taichi (or taijiquan) enthusiasts from around the world will gather at their spiritual home of Jiaozuo for the sixth China Jiaozuo International Taichi Boxing Exchange competition from Aug 20-26.

More than 3,500 taichi practitioners from 33 countries and regions have registered to take part in the event, organized by the Chinese Wushu Association, the Henan Sports Bureau and the Jiaozuo Municipal Government. The event will also feature seminars on different styles of taichi boxing, displays and lectures by taichi masters, grading tests for expat practitioners and sightseeing tours of Chenjiagou village.

There are about 1.3 million taichi practitioners in Jiaozuo and, worldwide, more than 150 million people are believed to practice the form in more than 150 countries and regions.
