England's Robert Rock has sealed the Abu Dhabi Championship after holding off the challenge of US Open champion Rory McIlroy and a resurgent Tiger Woods on Sunday.
Thirty-four-year-old Rock finished on 13-under-par to take the biggest win of his career so far. The world number 117 finished one stroke clear of McIlroy and two clear of Woods who had lead the tournament going into the final round.
Afterwards, Woods discussed going close to a second consecutive win at his first tournament of the season.
"I was right there with a chance to win the golf tournament and didn't do it. I was right there today, got off to a beautiful start. Misjudged the wind on the next two holes and then hit two bad pitches back-to-back so I just felt I was just a touch off."
The win was only Rock's second on the European Tour in 228 attempts and saw him pocket a cool 456-thousand dollars.
