Final CBA playoff spot down to last round

Seven of eight playoff spots have been sealed after the 33nd round of CBA's regular season. With one round left, Qingdao and Guangsha will fight for the last berth.

Shanxi Zhongyu 128-121 Guangdong Hongyuan

Defending champion Guangdong Hongyuan's 13-game winning streak came to an end after losing on the road, 121-128 to Shanxi.

Marcus Williams scored a game-high 40 points, including 20 of 22 from the free throw line to lead the home team. Charles Gaines had a double-double with 32 points and 14 rebounds.

Guangdong's Zhu Fangyu scored a season best 38 points, including nine three-pointers. Former Houston Rockets guard Aaron Brooks added 17 points.

Xinjiang Guanghui 97-89 Dongguan Marco Polo

Last season's runner-up Xinjiang Guanghui held off a late rally from Dongguan Marco Polo to book a playoff berth.

Going up 48-44 at halftime, Xinjiang pulled away to lead by as many as 20 points in the fourth period before Dongguan answered with a 12-0 run to cut the deficit to single digit.

Xinjiang center Tang Zhengdong returned to form with 26 points and 11 rebounds, Dongguan power forward Ronald Randolph grabbed 33 points and 16 rebounds and Joshua Akognon added 24 points.

Beijing Ducks 93-78 Shanghai Sharks

The scoreboard didn't reflect the close competition of the game, which was hard fought by both sides from start to finish.

For Beijing, Randolph Morris scored a game-high 24 points whilst Ji Zhe got 20 and Marbury made 13. In response, Carl Landry picked up 18 points while Mike Harris got 15 for a Shanghai side that will now travel to Tianjin for its last game before the CBA All-Star break.

In other results from around the CBA Sunday night, Qingdao Doublestars beat Shandong Gold 105-89, Bayi Fubang topped Liaoning Hengye 99-87, Foshan Long Lions edged Tianjin Ronggang 116-115, Jinlin Northeast Tigers outlasted Zhejiang Chouzhou 106-96, Jiangsu Dragons survived Zhejiang Guangsha 110-107.
