China jails former CFA Referee Committee director

Former Chinese Football Association (CFA) director Zhang Jianqiang was sentenced to 12 years in jail and fined 250,000 yuan (about 39,725 U.S. dollars) for taking bribes on Saturday.

Thirty-nine people's trial verdicts will be read out Saturday by the Intermediate People's Court of Tieling in Liaoning Province.

Nine people, including four top referees, had been sentenced to up to seven years in jail for bribery and match-fixing by the Intermediate People's Court of Dandong in Liaoning on Thursday.
