China coach Jose Antonio Camacho wants nothing less than a victory against Jordan on Wednesday, despite the host team having been eliminated from 2014 World Cup qualification.
The Chinese will meet Jordan at Guangzhou University Town stadium in what is basically a friendly as the visiting side has already qualified for the final round of cup qualification by topping the group. But the situation has not decreased the Spaniard's hunger for victory.
"Each game is of the same importance in my heart, no matter if it is a friendly or a formal one," said Camacho, who took charge of the national team last August. "We should always fight for victories.
"My job is to help the national team to improve each game, and promote the overall progress of Chinese soccer," said the 56-year-old.
The Chinese team played a friendly against Kuwait in Changsha, Hunan province, last Wednesday, which it won 2-0 with goals from forwards Yu Daobao and Gao Lin.
"Our biggest problem is we still can't transform opportunities into goals, though we play beautiful soccer sometimes," said Camacho, who has told his players to make use of space on the wings during the game against Jordan.
With few international matches set for the near future, Camacho will start to focus on putting together an Under-22 national team, which will play Under-22 Asian Cup qualifying at the end of June.
The Spaniard will send his assistants to domestic games after the leagues kick off in March. The coaching team will also watch reserve matches as many Under-22 players struggle to win regular spots with their senior teams.
Three young players born in the 1990s, Wu Lei, Jin Jingdao and Peng Xinli, have already been included in Camacho's current squad, although they have not had the chance to play.
