A well-known CCTV football commentator for German Bundesliga, Tao Wei, is confirmed dead in Haitai Hotel of Jinan, Shandong province, on Monday, August 27, 2012, the Beijing News reports.

According to the official microblog of Jinan police, who give the confirmation after news of his death was first circulating on Sina weibo accounts of his friends and acquaintances, the cause of death is yet to be determined.

His sudden death at the age of 42 has aroused some intense speculation on the cause, with some of his fans suggesting the death might be caused by a heart attack, while others simply claim it is a homicide case.

The police from Jinan public security bureau say they will investigate the case and disclose the newest information as soon as possible.

The commentators last show was for a game between Stuttgart's and Wolfsburg, a match in the first round of German Bundesliga.
