It was once one of the best sports stadiums after the founding of People's Republic of China in 1949. Now weeds grow from the stands of Datianwan Outdoor Stadium in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality. The stadium, built up in 1951 covering 120,000 square meters, was hailed as one of the ten most spectacular buildings during the early years of P.R.China. Having been the host for several soccer clubs in Chongqing, the stadium witnessed the development of local soccer. But today part of the field is used as a vegetable plot after years of desolation.

A vegetable plot is cultivated in a corner of the field of Datianwan Outdoor Stadium – what was once the first A-class stadium after the founding of People's Republic of China in 1949 – in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on Nov 26, 2012.
