Wang Meng
Sport: Short track speed skating
Wang Meng claimed three consecutive wins in the women's 500m at the ISU World Cup short-track meets of the season.
The 27-year-old Heilongjiang native displayed a championship form since coming back from a lengthy ban after punching her former team manager Wang Chunlu following a boozy night when she broke the team curfew in the summer of 2011.
In Calgary, on Oct. 21, in her first international start following her suspension, Wang won the 500 meters final A race in 43.240- well off her world record mark of 42.609.
China's short-track speed skating head coach Li Yan attributed Wang's successful return to the training she had received from the Heilongjiang provincial team and the great experiences she gained from her participation in the national short-track skating competition prior to the ISU World Cup.
