Brazilian club Corinthians beat European champions Chelsea 1-0 to clinch the World Club Cup in Yokohama, Japan.
Over 20,000 Corinthians fans made the pilgrimage to Asia to watch Guerrero head the game' s only goal midway through the second half to settle the match. In an exciting encounter, the English club managed to create more chances and Corinthians goalkeeper Cassio came to his side's rescue, making four outstanding saves.
Ralf and Paulinho worked tirelessly in the Corinthians midfield but played second fiddle for long periods to their superior opponents.Guerrero had an excellent game, causing several headaches for the Chelsea defence throughout the game and when his goal came it was thoroughly deserved.
A slice of luck allowed Paulinho to lay the ball to Danilo, whose shot spun up into the air. Guerrero reacted fastest and guided his header over two Chelsea players on the goal line.
For the final 20 minutes the Brazilians remained well disciplined at the back and there was only one real moment of danger when Fernando Torres found himself with ample space in the penalty area. Cassio saved expertly with his legs.
As the clock ticked down Torres had a goal disallowed for offside and Chelsea defender Gary Cahill saw read for a dangerous tackle on Emerson. There were emotional scenes at the final whistle as Corinthians lifted their second world title, as well as huge celebrations across Sao Paulo.
