Gilbert Arenas was back on court but it did not help the team.

The Guangdong Southern Tigers added to the Shanghai Sharks woeful run this season, beating the visitors 103-96 in the Chinese Basketball Association league.

It was the Sharks' sixth straight loss for a 2-9 start this season.

"Agent Zero" Arenas, who missed nine games with a pulled thigh muscle, managed five points and seven assists in his 27 minutes on the court after coming off the bench.

"All we can do is to improve ourselves each day," Arenas said before the game about the team's run of losses.

The former NBA All-Star guard also said that he was not fully fit. "I am not coming back a 100 percent now."

Arenas focused more on organization than scoring yesterday.

Shanghai's American import D.J. White notched a game-high 27 points while captain Liu Wei scored 20 points but also had four turnovers.

Guangdong's Ike Diogu scored 26 points with Yi Jianlian, who was also making a return from ankle injury, adding 15 points.

Guangdong led by 10 points by half time - 46-36 - with several easy scores in the paint.

An unfit Arenas missed three-pointers in Sharks' late offensive play.

The Sharks are at home next and will play Foshan Long Lions on Friday.

In other CBA games, Tracy McGrady's Qingdao Doublestar lost 114-121 to Xinjiang Flying Tigers for their 10th straight defeat despite McGrady's 35 points.

Qingdao and Shanghai are the bottom two teams in the league.
