Former NBA star Tracy McGrady's Qingdao sank Shanghai 103-91 Friday night in CBA league, but the superstar was banned in this match as he criticized referees on social network.
Shanghai's former NBA star Gilbert Arenas was also absent due to injuries and both teams had only one international player on court.
Chiris Daniels snatched a game-high 31 points and 14 rebounds for Qingdao, while Liu Ziqiu notched a team-high 19 points and veteran Liu Wei got 14 points for Shanghai.
Shanghai scored nine straight points at the very beginning and established a 10-point lead in the first quarter.
With fast breaks and three-pointers from Liu Ziqiu, Shanghai extended the lead to 19 points. Powered by Chris Daniels, ex-NBDL player, Qingdao narrowed the gap to 10 points before the first half ended.
The host team overturned Shanghai by scoring 11 points in a row in the third quarter as Li Tao buried three three-pointers and Daniels dunked twice.
Qingdao led by two points before the final quarter and continued widening the gap to win the game.
