David Beckham unveiled as Paris Saint-Germain's latest signing at news conference.

David Beckham has joined Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain on a five-month deal after the expiry of his contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Beckham passed a medical at the Pitié Salpétrière hospital in Paris on Thursday afternoon before being presented at a press conference.

“We are very lucky to have him here,” club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said. “David is a very professional player and I’m sure he will add big value to the club. He will be an asset to the club. I’m very happy to be sitting next to David here.”

PSG's Qatari-owners have invested more than US$300 million in players since buying the club in 2011. But Beckham was available on a free transfer after he ended his six-year stint in the United States with a second MLS Cup title last month.

At PSG, Beckham will be hoping to win a league title in a fourth country, having already enjoyed success at Manchester United and Real Madrid in Europe before moving to Major League Soccer.

Beckham had been close to joining PSG last January but rejected a deal worth about US$12 million per year to stay in California for one more season. Now, though, Beckham and his family have moved back to London.

He has made 115 appearances for England, a record for a player other than a goalkeeper.
