Higgins sweeps aside Ding in Haikou Open

Ding Junhui, the Chinese ace snooker, was trounced 5-0 by his opponent John Higgins in the quarterfinals of the Haikou World Open in China, while the defending champion Mark Allen saw off Ricky Walden by the same scoreline.

Ding Junhui caught a bad cold in Haikou and struggled in the match tonight, when his opponent John Higgins continued his brilliant from.

At the very beginning of the opening frame, Higgins did not leave any chance to Ding by making a 141 points hit to win this frame. In the second frame, Ding still could find his touches to make so many mistakes, wiht one 113 points hit by Higgins, Ding lost the frame.

In the third frame, Ding continued his poor shot on the table, while Higgins made a break of 73 to win. And after another break of 56 by Higgins, Ding lost the fourth frame to his opponent.

After the halftime break, Ding bowed to Higgins 27-72 to lose the match 5-0.

Ding told the press that his opponent played so good tonight, not only in the attacking phase but also in the defending round, Higgins left no chance to him. It is not surprise to lose the game to him.

In another match tonight, defending champion Mark Allenwon 5-1 over Ricky Walden.
