Elkeson rescued a point for Evergrande in Beijing. |
Brazilian striker Elkeson bundled the ball over the line 16 minutes into the second half to earn Guangzhou Evergrande a 1-1 draw with fellow AFC Champions League participants Beijing Guoan at Workers' Stadium in Beijing in the Chinese Super League on Friday evening.
Both clubs lost their perfect starts to the season with the draw, with Marcello Lippi's side forced to come from behind after Zhang Xizhe had given Beijing the lead in first half injury time.
The result moves both clubs on to seven points from three games, one point ahead of Shandong Luneng, who play on Sunday.
China's other AFC Champions League participants – Guizhou Renhe and Jiangsu Sainty – were also in action on Friday evening.
Zvjezdan Misimovic and Rafa Jorda were on target as Guizhou picked up their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Wuhan Zall that moves them up to seventh.
Jiangsu Sainty sit a place behind them in eight after their 2-2 draw with Shanghai Shenxin, with both goals coming from Hamdi Salihi, including a second equalizer in injury time.
