Willian is wanted by both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. |
Tottenham Hotspur are trying to hijack Liverpool's attempts to sign the Brazilian attacking midfielder Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala.
It is believed the Reds are prepared to pay £26 million for the playmaker, but the Russian club are looking for something closer to the £30 million mark to avoid making a significant loss on the former Shakhtar player.
Spurs have now indicated to the Russians that they are ready to improve on the Anfield giants' bid.
Willian has made no secret of his desire to play in the Premier League and Spurs head coach Andre Villas-Boas also tried to sign the 25-year-old when he was the manager of Chelsea.
The Londoners would also be able to offer the Brazil international European football in a season which ends with a World Cup in his homeland, should they win their Europa League play-off against Dinamo Tbilisi.
