David Pizarro made up for a defensive mistake to score the winner in Fiorentina's 2-1 home win over Catania in the Italian Serie A on Monday.
Giuseppe Rossi, who has finally recovered from cruciate ligament damage, controlled Juan Cuadrado's sharp cross to tuck home his first goal in Viola colours in the 14th minute.
However, Catania capitalised on another Pizarro error to level the match within eight minutes.
The Chilean failed to cut out Sebastian Leto's soft cross from the left and Pablo Barrientos made no mistake in sweeping up the ball and guiding it beyond Neto.
But Pizarro showed admirable determination to atone for his mistake and score the best goal of the game in the 28th minute.
It was also thanks to Cuadrado who raid down the right saw the ball bobble into the place where Pizarro touched it onto his right boot before curling it into the top corner.
Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Montella praised his side for their terrific performance.
"I thought we were absolutely terrific," he said.
"Mario Gomez and Rossi really complimented each other well and can only grow as a pair," he added.
