Diego Milito made a fantastic comeback from injury as he scored a brace to help Inter hammer promoted Serie A side Sassuolo 7-0 on Sunday.
Rodrigo Palacio, Saphir Taider, Ricardo Alvarez and Estaban Cambiasso all scored for Inter, and Sassuolo defender Raffaele Puccino added an own goal.
Milito, who had been out of action since snapping knee ligaments against Cluj seven months ago, had many people to thank after for his comeback.
"This brace means a lot to me and I am very happy to be back, especially with two goals," he said.
"We put in an extraordinary performance and this is a fantastic group. I have so many people to thank, including my family, children, teammates, Andrea Scanavino who helped my recuperation, Franco Combi and the other doctors," he said.
Milito returned to a reborn Nerazzurri side that has conceded one goal all season, earning three wins and a draw.
"It's an extraordinary squad and we are doing things properly, so it's easier for me to return in a team like this. Inter have to take it one game at a time. We are a new group with a new coach, so have a lot of work to do, but we are on the right track," he said.
Rodrigo Palacio put Inter ahead with seven minutes into the game following a cross from Yuto Nagatomo, and Saphir Taider scored his first goal with Inter in the 23rd minute.
Sassuolo defender Raffaele Puccino made it 3-0 in the 33rd when he tried to beat Taider to the ball but ended up putting it in his own net instead.
Alvarez made it 4-0 in the 53rd minute with a rebound of a shot from Palacio. Milito came on to replace Palacio a minute later and found the net nine minutes later.
Cambiasso found the target with a long shot in the 75th and Milito scored again in the 83rd after taking a pass from Fredy Guarin.
Inter head coach Walter Mazzarri insisted Inter will "never rest on our laurels" after the record-breaking 7-0 win.
"We started from scratch this summer and are doing very well," admitted Mazzarri.
"Aside from the result, what counts is the approach to the game. The team had the right attitude and it is reflected in our position in the table," he said.
"Our spirit means we will never rest on our laurels and always want to improve. All the players are growing and with Milito fit we can think about adopting a 3-4-3 system," he said.
