League leader Roma beat Udinese 1-0 away yesterday to set a new all-time record of nine consecutive wins at the start of a Serie A season.
Roma, which has conceded just one goal in its nine wins under French coach Rudi Garcia, was reduced to 10 men in the second half after Brazilian Maicon saw red for a second bookable offense.
However the setback failed to shake the leader, which virtually sealed the points when American Michael Bradley scored with a precise first-time shot in the 82nd minute.
Roma maintained its five-point lead over Napoli and defending champion Juventus, who both won yesterday.
Juventus won 2-0 at home to Genoa, with an Arturo Vidal penalty in the 23rd and a Carlos Tevez strike in the 36th.
AC Milan, which had rallied from 0-2 down to 2-2 against Parma, fell to an injury-time strike by Marco Parolo.
Earlier, two Gonzalo Higuain penalties spurred Napoli to a 2-0 win over 10-man Torino.
The Argentine struck in the 14th and 32nd minutes from the penalty spot to take his tally for the season to five goals.
Napoli was awarded the first penalty after Dries Mertens looked to have gone down very easily under Nicola Bellomo's challenge, while a harsh handball against Kamil Glik earned it the second.
