Top seed Li Na edged out Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak 6-1,6-4 in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open on Tuesday night.
Wozniak saved ten match points in a dramatic concluding game.
Li, who raced to win the opening set in 32 minutes, battled back from a 0-3 deficit in the second set to reach the quarterfinals for the third time.
Li compiled her best run in 2007, when she lost to eventual champion Daniela Hantuchova in the semi-finals. The reigning Australian Open champion and World No. 2 is bidding to capture her 10th WTA title this week.
