A lengthy fog delay proved no obstacle for Kim Sol-bi as the 19-year-old Korean fired a 6-under 66 yesterday to take an early lead at the Zhuhai Classic in Guangdong Province with 24 players left out on the field due to darkness.

With a blanket of fog delaying the start of the first round of the 500,000-yuan (US$80,300) tournament by two hours and 10 minutes, Kim was one shot ahead of China's Li Dan (67) in the first regular event of the China LPGA Tour season.

Chinese veterans Yan Panpan and Pan Yanhong were two strokes back at 68, tied with Chinese Taipei's Liu Yi-chen and Lin Tzu-chi.

Du Mohan, a 12-year-old amateur from Beijing playing in her first professional tournament, made an impressive debut, carding a 69 to sit equal seventh with Korean Kang Hyeon-seo and Chinese Taipei's Chien Pei-yun.

Aunchisa Utama scored a hole-in-one at the 150-yard 15th hole. The ace earned the Thai player 4,000 yuan.
