China's top tennis star Li Na will feature on the cover of the May 26 issue of TIME magazine, the second time in a little more than a year that she graces TIME's cover- she was featured on the cover of the 2013 TIME 100 issue, the magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
'The Passion Of Li Na' feature focuses on Li's journey in professional tennis, her relationship with the Chinese people, her role as a global sports icon and how she has inspired millions of Chinese people as a symbol of independence and freedom.
Li has been the torch-bearer for women's tennis in China, and in the Asia-Pacific region in general. She became Asia's first Grand Slam champion at the 2011 French Open and has followed it up with another Grand Slam title at the 2014 Australian Open, she became the first Asian player ever to break into the top 3 on the WTA Rankings and has since bettered her career-high to No.2.
Li is the second-highest-paid female athlete in the world with over $42 million in endorsement deals.
