Every World Cup generates a wide range of pop music recorded in celebration of the event and to support national teams. Here's a ranking of the top 5 World Cup songs.

1. WAKA WAKA (This Time for Africa), by Shakira (South Africa 2010)

This warmly-received World Cup theme song has the bright rhythm and impressive lyrics, but also in its music video powerful African drum sound and ebullient Hula-hula also make you want to shake your body and dance with them. When Shakira was singing Waka Waka, you could feel the African atmosphere.

2. The Cup of Life, by Ricky Martin (France 1998)

This was the first anthems to stand out from the rest for its unique and catchy sound. When you think World Cup music, this is definitely one of the first songs that comes to mind.

3. Un Estate Italiana, by Edoardo Bennato & Gianna Nannini (Italy 1990)

The 1990 Italy World Cup song may be the most successful theme song so far that an array of football fans still take delight in talking about it and sing it. This song has several versions and its English version is called "To Be Number One", which has a studio version with relieving and traditional style and a live version with strong yet appealing rock rhythm. Both versions are worth appreciating.

4. Gloryland, by Daryl Hall (USA 1994)

This song is one of the few that use different musical influences and styles to represent the diversity that exists worldwide.

5. WAVIN' FLAG, by K'naan (South Africa 2010)

K'Naan's celebratory version of his inspirational song inspired by the stories of refugees was used in Coca-Cola's 2010 World Cup campaign. Although this song wasn’t part of the official FIFA compilation, “Wavin’ Flag” turned into an alternative anthem. Many fans considered this song to be catchier and have a more positive message than Shakira’s “Waka Waka.”
