Jang So-young put herself in position to claim her first pro win yesterday when the in-form South Korean shot a 3-under 69 to open up a five-shot lead through two rounds of the Beijing Challenge.
After a career-best 8-under 64 in the opening round, the 23-year-old was at 11-under 133 at the 500,000-yuan (US$80,000) tournament, the fourth leg of the China LPGA Tour season. China's Pan Yanhong (67) shot the low round of the day to sit alone in second, while Thailand's Pavarisa Yoktuan (71) was a shot further back, six off the pace.
Shi Yuting (69) and Zhang Jienalin (74) were the top amateurs as the Chinese teenagers were at 4-under 140, seven shots off the lead.
