Manuel Neuer has been named as the Player of the Year 2014, the German sports magazine Kicker announced on Sunday.
Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and coach Joachim Loew have been awarded with the award Player of the Year and Coach of the Year respectively.
Bayern goalkeeper has been voted as Germany's "Player of the Year" with 144 votes of 701 votes in total by German sports journalists. It is the second time for Neuer, who already snatched that award in 2011. Dortmund's Marco Reus finished on second place with 135 votes, followed by Thomas Mueller with 105 votes.
"This election honors me. I did not expect it although I am aware that I have shown good performances," Neuer told the Kicker magazine.
Besides that Joachim Loew had been voted as the "Coach of the Year" for the first time. After the victory at the World Cup in Brazil Loew earned 248 votes. Meanwhile, Augsburg's coach Mark Weinzierl got 152 votes, followed by Bayern's Pep Guardiola with 89 votes.
