Kawasaki Frontale and Guangzhou Evergrande played out a hard-fought 0-0 draw in Group G of the 2017 AFC Champions League on Wednesday, with the result keeping both sides in the hunt for a Round of 16 place.
The hosts were looking to end a run of three consecutive draws but it was Guangzhou who enjoyed the better of the early exchanges at Kawasaki Todoroki Stadium, with goalkeeper Jung Sung-ryong dealing well with efforts from both Huang Bowen and Alan before half-time.
The J.League side responded well after the break, though, with Rhayner particularly threatening, but neither team managed to create many opportunities of note as the tie ended scoreless.
Guangzhou drop to second in Group G as Suwon Samsung Bluewings defeated bottom side Eastern SC 5-0 to move top, while Kawasaki remain in third position after four straight draws.
