Graf to promote WTA Zhuhai tournament as brand ambassador

Tennis legend Steffi Graf will be back as brand ambassador of the 2017 WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai again for the second straight year, the organizers confirmed today.
The women's tournament will be played in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, from October 31 to November 5 this year.
"I'm excited to be able to return to the Elite Trophy in Zhuhai as an ambassador," Graf said in a statement. "It was my first visit to China last year, during which I toured around Zhuhai, interacted with Chinese fans and watched the final of the tournament. I'm looking forward to see better tennis here this year and learn more about local culture."
Graf won 22 grand slam singles titles. In 1988, she became the first and the only tennis player to win all four grand slam singles titles and the Olympic gold medal in the same calendar year.
WTA Elite Trophy Zhuhai will feature players ranked 9th to 19th in the singles, and 8th to 11th in doubles in the WTA ranking. Venus Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Samantha Stosur and Petra Kvitova have played here in the past two years.
The organizers said that the total prize money for this year's tournament has been raised to USS$2.28 million, with the singles champion pocketing 700 ranking points.
