Australian Open champions Zheng Jie and Yan Zi eased into the second round in straight sets at the Pattaya Women's Open in Thailand.

During the second-day competition on Tuesday, the top seeds had an easy victory over Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan and Anastassia Rodionova of Russia in two straight sets: 6-2, 6-2.

However, Zheng Jie failed to produce significant result in the singles match, losing to Melinda Czink of Hungary.

Another Chinese top player Li Na also lost in the singles round to Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak.

Olympic double champion Sun Tiantian is the only survivor in the singles after beating Russian Atla Kudryavtseva to reach the second round.
