Australia Humiliates China 3-1 at Friendly
Adjust font size:

China suffered a humiliating 3-1 defeat by Australia in an international soccer friendly in the newly-built Olympic Center in Tianjin on Sunday, just 24 days before their first match against Denmark on September 12 at the FIFA Women's World Cup.

Left midfielder Heather Garriock put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute with a resolute fierce shot on the edge of the area, before striker Caitlin Munoz drove in a marvelous left-foot half volley from small angle inside the box.

Collette Mccallum added more on the Chinese wounds five minutes into the second half, converting a clinical volley following Garriock's fine pass.

Skipper Pu Wei netted in a consolation goal two minutes before the final whistle.

Australia would have made bigger victory if their two goals were not disallowed by the refree.
