Marika Domanski-Lyfors will decide later this week whether to
remain as the head coach of the Chinese National Women's football
team, the Beijing Morning News reports.
The Chinese Football Association has expressed a strong desire
to keep Domanski with the team, although she failed to take China
to the semifinal of the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup, which China
hosted.
However, the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a
contract extension before the Swede left on vacation in late
September.
Domanski is happy to remain with the team but must consult her
family first, she told the newspaper.
She also defended herself against early reports that a
disagreement over the firing of a group of Chinese coaches hampered
the contract negotiations. Domanski said she appreciated the help
of the Chinese assistants but worried their poor English would
complicate communications.
