Brazil volleyball player Jacqueline Carvalho was banned on
Friday for three months by the Italian Olympic Committee for
failing test.
Carvalho is tested positive for the banned stimulant
sibutramine, but she can return to play immediately for having
already served the sanction, CONI said in a statement.
Anti-doping prosecutors had asked that Carvalho be banned for
nine months following her failed test at a Serie A1 playoff match
in June.
She had played for Monteschiavo Banca Marche Jesi and therefore
came under Italian jurisdiction.
Carvalho now plays for Spanish team Murcia. She was dropped from
Brazil's squad for the Pan American Games on July 12.
