Chinese women's basketball downs Poland in second friendly

China continued its winning streak on Saturday by trouncing Poland 74-55 in Huizhou, Guangdong, in the second game of three series between the women's basketball teams.

The hosts, who beat the visitors 91-72 in Wuxi, southeast China, two days ago, were led by center Chen Na with 15 points, while guard Miao Lijie and power forward Chen Xiaoli scored 12 and 11 respectively.

The Chinese took the lead 25-23 for good after Miao's two points on the free line with 4:50 minutes left in the second quarter. They didn't build a double figure lead until Song Xiaoyun's fast layup to make it 41-31, 5:40 minutes into the third period.

China outscored Poland 11-2 to start the fourth period for a 61-44 lead, clinching the victory.

Monica Krawie, who was Polish only one to score a doulbe-digit with 13 points but four short of her points in the first game.

"We were tired after the first half," said Krzystor Koziorowicz of Poland head coach. "They played good defense in the second half while we didn't have a good performance offensively."

China shot 57 percent from the two points field goal to Polish 31 percent.

This was the eighth win of nine games the Chinese played since their gathering for the Olympics earlier in March.

Both teams will play third and last game in Jiyuan, Henan Province on Monday.
