Del Bosque: Spain has one of the best midfields

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque praised his team on Thursday morning after having watched them brush aside a weak Armenia to win their second World Cup qualifying game.

The Spanish controlled the match, which was played in Albacete, from start to finish and the result was never in doubt after early goals from David Villa and Joan Capdevila had given them a two-goal lead after just 16 minutes.

A further goal from Villa and a long range shot from Marcos Senna in the closing minutes of the game, made the final score 4-0 and left Del Bosque impressed by his players.

"I don't know if we have the best midfield in the world, but it is one of the best there is. This is a marvellous team with the ball at its feet, maybe all we have to do is work a bit harder when we don't have it," he said in the post-game press conference reported in sports paper Diario AS.

After such a dominant display, the only thing that disappointed Del Bosque was that his players had been unable to convert their total dominance into even more goals.

"I am pleased with the score, but we wasted several chances and quite a bit of time during the match. We played well for 15 minutes in each half and we can improve on the rest," he said, before singling Villa out for special praise.

"He is in great form at the moment and we have to take advantage of that. I am very pleased with his goals and with the win for Spain," he concluded.
