Adjust font size:

A serious brawling left around 40 fans injured at the Moroccan first division soccer match between Kawkab Marrakech and Wydad Casablanca, according to a statement from the local authorities on Monday.

An emergency meeting will be held between the government and the football association on Tuesday to handle the problem.

The Moroccan sports ministry condemned the violence, claiming the incidents were not in keeping with standards of behavior in Moroccan society.

About 5,000 Wydad supporters had made the trip to Marrakech.
