Wang Cuiqiao was a prostitute during the Ming Dynasty (1368- 1644). Gentle and soft-hearted, she had a persistent and frank disposition. Wang was sold to an old businessman by her procuress. But she married to a young man from a rich family after she escaped from the old man.
Wang's husband ran away after he failed at a war against pirates and Wang was put into jail. Then she was forced to marry a head of the pirates. However, Wang threw herself into the sea after she knew her second husband had been killed by an official of the Ming Dynasty.
