Genghis Khan (1162–1227) was often referred as the Conqueror of the World for his great military accomplishments.
Born in Temujin, the Emperor was the founder of the Mongol Empire, which was the predecessor of Yuan Dynasty. He wiped out the military of opposing nations and created a unified empire. Later, he expanded the empire across most of Eurasia and built the largest empire in the Chinese history.
Beyond his military achievements, Genghis Khan was also an active promoter of trade by issuing a series of favored policies to encourage trade flows throughout Asia. Moreover, he promoted religious tolerance in the Mongol Empire as well. Thus, abundant European envoys, merchants and craftsmen crossed over the Central Asia to China, which cultural exchanges between different nations occurred.
