Essential Formulas for Emergencies (Worth) a Thousand Pieces of Gold (Pinyin: Beiji Qianjin Yaofang ) is a comprehensive medical masterpiece on clinical practice written by Sun Simiao, a famous doctor nicknamed "China's King of Medicine" in the Tang Dynasty. The book, published in the year of 652, summarizes all the pre-Tang Dynasty studies and records on medical treatment and had a great influence for the medical development in the later ages.

Sun's book lists about 5,300 recipes for medicines, 233 categories in total, covering gynecology, pediatrics, facial features section, internal medicine, external medicine, detoxication and first-aid treatment, food therapy and health preserving, sphygmology and acupuncture.

The book has received much attention over the years, and it was also brought to foreign countries and had its influences.
