Industry: Online retail

Position: Chairman of the Board and CEO

Liu Qiangdong graduated with a BA from the Renmin University of China in 1996 and had a lot of interests in computer programming. He started his own business in 1998 and founded the 360Buy Jingdong mall in 2004. Since then, Liu has unquestionably become a dazzling business star rising along China's Internet boom.

His company witnessed rapid expansions and had benefited greatly from the capital market. Now China's largest online retailer of computer, communication and consumer electronics, 360Buy raked in more than 10 billion yuan (US$1.59 billion) revenue in sales in 2010, with a compound growth rate as high as 217 percent.

Liu's business empire is unparalleled for its strong logistics and distribution capabilities, highly-effective marketing and feedback network, and internal management system focusing on improving employee satisfaction. His short-term target is to go public in the U.S. next year. His e-commerce website, which some say is having investors "queuing up for opportunities to pour in money," is expected to develop even faster with China's quickened urbanization and growing middle class.
