"Litzlberg Am Attersee (c.1914/15)" or "Litzberg on the Attersee", a painting depicting a lake in western Austria by Austrian symbolist artist Gustav Klimt (1862-1918), was sold for US$36 million at Sotheby's New York on Nov.2, 2011. The 110cm x 110cm oil-on-canvas landscape was returned in July last year by the Salzburg Museum of Modern Art to Georges Jorisch, heir of the original owner Amalie Redlich who was murdered by the Nazis in 1945. Landscapes of Klimt of this type are highly popular with collectors, according to Artprice.
