The institute is one of 67 Confucius Institutes in the U.S., and nearly 400 worldwide, providing professional and exciting cultural and language training for the public. Thanks to the Institute’s efforts, the number of students in 2011 has doubled compared with that of 2008. Four out of the twelve Confucius classrooms adopt the teaching method "Immersion”, which indulges students in a Chinese language environment when they are in school. After using this method, it saw a 100 percent pass rate for level 3 of the Youth Chinese Test in 2011.

Known for its excellence, innovation and dedication, the Confucius Institute at University College Cork, promotes the development of Chinese language education and enhances a mutual understanding by providing wonderful Chinese learning classes and organizing cultural exchange activities between Ireland and China, such as the festival parade. In addition, the Institute has launched a learning program entitled "Doing Business in China" to train Irish senior managers before embarking on trips to China.
