Changsha, capital of Hunan province, came in number one on a Forbes China's list of the best commercial cities in central China.

Central China is now presenting broad investment opportunities as China has incorporated the rise of the region into national development strategies since 2006. Central China comprises Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan.

Located in the heart of China, they boast an abundance of human as well as natural resources, strong science plus education bases and first-rate transportation networks.

Released in early May, and the first of its kind, the list surveyed central China cities for GDP, human resources, economic vitality, operating costs and modernization to quantify their economic power.
