Sinopec, PetroChina and China Mobile remained as the three largest companies in China this year, according to Fortune China's ranking of the country's top 500 companies 2012.
Sinopec led by the list with a revenue of 2.51 trillion yuan, followed by 2 trillion yuan of PetroChina and 555 billion yuan of China Mobile.
Against a complex and volatile global economy, Chinese companies on this year's list raked in a total revenue of 23.7 trillion yuan, representing a 25-percent increase year on year and accounting for 50.4 percent of the country's GDP. Their aggregate profits rose 12.8 percent from last year to reach 2.1 trillion yuan.
This year, companies have to earn at least 6.208 billion yuan in revenue to appear on the list, 1.47 billion more than last year.
Industrial and Commercial Bank of China moved up by two spots to rank No. 5 for the first time and became the most profitable company with a net profit of 208.2 billion yuan.
Altogether 58 new comers squeezed their way onto the list, including Sinohydro. Group and New China Life Insurance.
