Top 10 Chinese cities with highest rent in 2012

With the average rent of 5,045 yuan (US$808.71) per month, Shanghai becomes the top one Chinese city with highest rent in 2012, according to HK-based China Institute of City Competitiveness (CICC).

The CICC’s data shows that the single room rent in Shanghai is 1,300 yuan (US$208.39) per month this year, and the rent of three-bedroom apartment reach about 7,334 yuan (US$1,175.64) per month.

Shanghai is followed by China’s first Special Economic Zones Shenzhen and a popular tourist city Sanya in Hainan. The average rent in these two cities in this year is 3,325 yuan (US$532.99) per month and 3,225 yuan (US$516.96) per month, respectively.

China Institute of City Competitiveness (CICC) was founded in 1998 in Hong Kong. Its annual report China City Competitiveness Rankings is released every July since 2002.
