Located in Luanchuan County, Luoyang City of Henan Province, the site dates back to the Paleolithic Age (about 2.6 million to 10,000 years ago). It was discovered during the National Census of Cultural Relics in 2008.

The unearthed space consists of four layers with three square meters and four meters in-depth. Animal fossils, stone tools, and, more importantly, human teeth fossils have been found at the site. Chinese paleoanthropologists have given the name Luanchuan Man to Homo erectus fossil specimens.
